Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav has reaffirmed that the honour and welfare of mothers and sisters remain the primary focus of the State Government. Speaking at an event in Mungwani, Narsinghpur, he described the Mukhyamantri Ladli Bahna Yojana as one of the State’s most significant initiatives for the welfare of women. During the programme, which celebrated the 36th installment of the scheme, the Chief Minister transferred Rs 1,835 crore directly into the bank accounts of 1.25 crore Ladli Bahnas across the State. He noted that since its inception, over Rs 55,000 crore has been disbursed to empower women financially.
Beyond the direct cash transfers, the Chief Minister launched development package totalling Rs 296 crore for Narsinghpur district. This included the inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for 40 different development projects. Specifically, Dr Yadav announced the establishment of a new college in Mungwani and the construction of a 250-meter-long bridge over the Shedh River, estimated to cost Rs 24 crore.
He also committed to upgrading the hockey facilities in Narsinghpur with an AstroTurf field and conducting a feasibility test for the Budena Dam to improve regional irrigation. He pointed out that 33% reservation has been provided for women in the police department and over 4 lakh women are now connected with various self-employment opportunities. Furthermore, he mentioned that women working in ready-made garment factories are receiving Rs 5,000 in assistance, and efforts are being made to increase the income of 34 lakh female farmers by integrating them into milk production. To further support the livestock sector, the government is offering subsidies of up to Rs 10 lakh to those rearing 25 or more cows or buffaloes.
Dr Yadav also addressed agricultural concerns, particularly
for the farmers of Narsinghpur. He announced a bonus of Rs 600 per quintal for Urad (black gram) and emphasised that the Government is committed to ensuring the procurement of wheat, gram, mustard, lentils, and urad at support prices.
He also introduced a significant humanitarian initiative where the government will provide Rs 25,000 to individuals who assist road accident victims during the ‘golden hour’ and will cover up to Rs 1.50 lakh of the medical treatment costs for the injured. To wrap up the event, the Chief Minister released a calendar focused on the historical and religious heritage of Narsinghpur and urged citizens to conserve water and minimise the unnecessary use of fuel.
