In the narrow lanes of Mahakali Nagar, where many families struggle daily to earn two meals, applause echoed louder than hardship on Wednesday as 21 students were honoured for cracking the Class 10 and 12 board exams against all odds. For parents who work as labourers and domestic helpers, the ceremony was more than just a felicitation event. It was a moment of pride, hope and proof that education can rise above poverty. Organised by the Nagpur City Police, the programme turned the spotlight on children who chose books over barriers and dreams over difficulties. The programme was held in the Beltarodi Police Station jurisdiction under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr Ravinder Kumar Singal and DCP Zone-4 Rashmita Rao.

Police officials said, the initiative was started to motivate students from slum areas to build a better future through education and stay away from criminal activities. The programme also aimed to strengthen trust between local residents and the police administration. CP Dr Singal, who attended the event as chief guest, advised students to remain disciplined and focused in life. He said consistency, hard work and positive thinking are the keys to success and described the youth as the nation’s greatest strength. Senior police officials, including ACP Ajni Division, Senior PI Mukund Kawade, PSI Kishore Malokar, PSI Bhadane, PSI Nandkishore Tayade, police staff, members of Friends Group, parents, social activist Ashok Bagul and nearly 400 local residents attended the event.
