Medical staff in Jabalpur staged a one-hour sit-in protest (dharna) outside the Dean’s office at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College on Wednesday. Organised by Madhya Pradesh Public Health and Medical Education Union, the demonstration followed what union leaders describe as a series of broken promises regarding employee welfare.
State President Virendra Tiwari noted that while the Dean had previously offered verbal assurances, no concrete action has been taken to address the workers’ issues. He stated that the movement will only end once they receive a written assurance from the administration.
Sharing about the issues, Tiwari explained that while the Dean’s office staff received their
full CPF amounts in their NPS accounts, autonomous staff under the Joint Director and Superintendent have reportedly only received half.
Workers demanded that SBI Bank (Medical College Branch) comply with the State orders from April 2026 to convert the accounts of Grade III and IV employees into official Salary Accounts. They also demanded for immediate verification of service books for autonomous employees, 24X7 Radiotherapy at the State Cancer Institute, to station Lab Technicians and Assistants in locations like H.C.L. labs or Blood Banks to ensure night shift availability for better patient care and to ensure maintenance at the H-Type and I-Type residential colonies. The protest saw a significant turnout, with hundreds of employees including Ajay Dubey, Sahil Siddiqui, Rajendra Bhatti and many others in attendanc. The Sangh has signaled that if these administrative hurdles are not cleared promptly, the intensity of the protests may escalate.
