In ‘Footloose’ Vijay Phanshikar through an article ‘Aesthetics:What are you talking about?’ has correctly mentioned that the green shade nets have hampered beauty of the city. The manner in which large number of bamboo sticks are erected to hold the shed net has looking as if they are erected for some festival. These bamboo erected are causing obstructions to the traffic and vehicles which want to turn left or in right direction. On one occasion I escaped unhurt when I was driving in gusty wind and the shed net fell on my car windscreen covering it due which I lost the visibility. Immediately some citizens riding on two wheeler came to my rescue.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has spent more than Rs 35 lakh on the green nets which could have opted other way like spraying the city roads with water in the evening so that the citizens could get respite from afternoon heat. Besides, if at all green nets are to be installed than permanent metal structures at the level of metro pillars should be fixed so that, the ground level remain clear. The authorities should install this shed net before the onset of summer in March so that, the vehicle riders get protection from the heat.
