National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) during a press conference at its district headquarters in Jabalpur on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Central Government. The student body addressed alleged paper leak in NEET-UG 2026 examination, labeling it a systemic failure that has jeopardised future of so many medical aspirants. NSUI District President Sachin Rajak highlighted that this is not an isolated incident, but a recurring cycle of examination scams spanning over a decade as in 2015, AIPMT exam had to be cancelled due to paper leaks in 2024, NEET-UG was mired in controversy and allegations of irregularities and now in 2026, same crisis repeated, proving failure of NTA to maintain sanctity of national-level exams. NSUI alleged that active paper-leak networks were operational across Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Maharashtra. The organisation further criticised the Government’s ‘superficial’ actions.

While the Director General of NTA was removed following 2024 controversy, NSUI questioned why no concrete action has been taken against NTA Chairman Pradeep Joshi, suggesting that the real culprits are being shielded. NSUI emphasised severe toll on 22-23 lakh students affected this year and present undergo academic uncertainty, anxiety, insecurity and financial strain. To safeguard students’ interests, NSUI has demanded immediate dissolution of National Testing Agency, resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, CBI inquiry under the supervision of Supreme Court and free counselling and legal aid for all the affected candidates. District President Sachin Rajak appealed to those affected to join their democratic struggle against the corrupt examination system. It may be noted that the press conference was attended by State Vice President Amit Mishra, State Secretary Anuj Yadav and others.
