city,” said Nagpur Mayor Neeta Thakre.
Thakre was speaking during the third Bhau Kane Memorial Outstanding Coach Award ceremony organised by Navmaharashtra Krida Mandal and Chaitanya Sports, Yoga and Cultural Foundation.
The programme was held at the auditorium of Shikshak Sahakari Bank near Gandhisagar Lake, Mahal.
Senior boxing coach Ganesh Purohit was felicitated with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Purohit received a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and a special memento as part of the award.
Renowned physiologist Dr Anil Golhar, Navmaharashtra Krida Mandal President Dhananjay Kane, Secretary Prashant Jagtap were also present.
Mahendra Patil and Shamsher Khan were also honoured with the best kho-kho and athletics coach awards respectively.
