The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Friday officially announced the revised date for the re-examination of NEET-UG (National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test-Undergraduate) 2026 following the cancellation of the earlier exam amid the paper leak controversy. With the approval of the central government, NTA has scheduled the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026 on June 21, 2026.
More than 30,000 candidates from Chhattisgarh will reappear for the medical entrance examination at their allotted centres across 19 districts of the state. NEET-UG is the only national-level examination for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in medical and dental colleges across the country.
According to the National Testing Agency (NTA), no fresh registration will be required for the re-examination of NEET-UG 2026. The
registration data, candidate details and examination centres opted
for during the May 2026 cycle will be carried forward for the re-conducted examination.
No additional examination fee will be charged. Moreover, the fees
already paid by candidates will be refunded and the examination
will be conducted again using NTA’s internal resources. Fresh admit
cards will be issued for the re-examination.
Candidates will be able
to download their NEET admit cards from the official website,
[neet.nta.nic.in](https://neet.nta.nic.in?utm_source=chatgpt.com),
once they are released. It may be noted that NEET-UG 2026, which
was conducted on May 3, was cancelled by the NTA on May 12 following allegations of a coordinated paper leak.
In Chhattisgarh, admissions to MBBS courses are offered through
NEET scores in one central medical college — All India Institute of
Medical Sciences Raipur — which has 125 seats, 10 state-run government medical colleges with a total of 1,555 seats, and five private medical colleges with 900 seats.
Besides these, subject to final approval from the National Medical
Commission, four new government medical colleges at
Manendragarh, Kabirdham, Janjgir-Champa and Geedam are expected to add 50 MBBS seats each, while a new private medical college
in Raipur is expected to add another 100 seats.
Dr. Manjeet Singh, a radiologist and NEET tutor, said that the reexamination of NEET-UG 2026 will continue to be conducted in
pen-and-paper mode this year. However, from 2027 onwards, the
examination is likely to shift to a computer-based format to curb
irregularities in the conduct of the examination.
