State-owned oil marketing companies on Friday announced hike in prices of petrol and diesel by over Rs 3 per liter pushing up the rate after a long gap. With this, petrol price has gone from Rs 104.02 per liter to Rs 107.16 per liter in the city while diesel price surged from Rs 93.70 per liter to Rs 90.59 per liter. The new price of petrol and diesel will put additional burden of Rs 3.14 per liter and Rs 3.11 per liter respectively on the consumers. The oil marketing companies increased the fuel prices as the Middle East war and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz continue to disrupt supply of oil and gas.
