weather conditions changed in Jabalpur and several parts of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, bringing relief to residents. The Weather Department has issued a rain alert for 17 districts in the State, along with a warning of strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 50 km per hour. Spokesman of Weather Department said the current spell of changing weather is likely to continue till May 4. A fresh western disturbance expected to become active from Saturday may further intensify rainfall activity across the region. In Jabalpur, the day started with dense cloud cover, indicating an early change in weather. By evening, light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds was recorded in the city. The light rain is continuously lashing the city. The sudden shift brought considerable relief from the intense heat that had gripped the region over the past few days.

The maximum temperature in the city was recorded at 38.0 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees below normal. The minimum temperature settled at 22.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the seasonal average. The drop in temperature, combined with cloudy skies and light showers made the weather noticeably pleasant. Spokesman further informed that a cyclonic circulation system, along with an active western disturbance is currently influencing weather patterns over the state. Its impact is expected to be more visible in northern and eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur. The department has indicated that conditions of cloud cover, rain and gusty winds will persist across the state till May 4. Importantly, there is no possibility of heatwave conditions during this period, offering continued respite to people battling the summer heat.
