Dumper stucks in pothole on Rly Bridge No. 1 to Kanchghar road, public enraged
Staff Reporter :
The road from the busy Railway Bridge No. 1 to Kanchghar in the heart of Jabalpur city has fallen into a dilapidated state. Locals allege that gross negligence is being shown in the pipeline being laid under the AMRUT-2 project, causing the road to cave in at various places and increasing the risk of accidents.
On the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, a heavy dumper truck got stuck in a pothole near the Bima Hospital. It is reported that the road was not properly filled and strengthened after laying the pipeline. As the dumper passed through that area, the road could not withstand the pressure, and a portion of the vehicle sank.
However, the driver managed to escape in time, averting a major accident. The incident caused chaos in the
area, and people faced inconvenience for hours. Local residents say that while the road is completely dug up and construction work is ongoing, heavy vehicle traffic should have been restricted. Residents allege that the road has been narrowed by barricading, making it difficult for even bikes and small vehicles to pass, while heavy dump trucks continue to ply. Residents question the functioning of the construction agency and the relevant department and demand improvements to the road quality and strengthened safety measures. They say that if improvements are not made in time, a major accident could occur in the future.
