IN Astate-wide drive against illegal drug trafficking, the State Police have executed a series of successful operations over the past two days. Following the directives of Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana, extensive checking campaigns led to the confiscation of ganja, poppy straw (doda chura), and opium worth more than Rs 1.56 crore across various districts. The police teams also seized several vehicles used for smuggling, dealing a significant blow to the active drug trafficking networks operating in the state. The biggest breakthrough was achieved in the Anuppur district, where the Ramnagar police team intercepted a major smuggling attempt on the Gram Phulwaritola road based on a tipoff. Upon spotting the police blockade, the driver tried to escape, causing the car to crash into a tree. The police immediately apprehended one suspect at the scene. A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 225 kg 740 grams of illegal ganja. The police seized the contraband along with the car, totalling assets worth approximately Rs 1 crore 12 lakh 87 thousand, and registered a case under the NDPS Act.
 
Simultaneously, the Jawad police in Neemuch district intercepted a drug runner near the Dhaba Mata Temple culvert on the Jawad-Nayagaon road. The team arrested one accused and seized 1 kg 784 grams of illegal opium along with a Swift car used in the crime. The total value of the confiscated opium and property is estimated to be around Rs 8 lakh 92 thousand. The crackdown also reached the State capital, where the Bhopal Crime Branch executed a swift operation near the RRL Bridge located in the Govindpura area. The team arrested one suspect and recovered 21 kg 20 grams of illegal poppy straw from his possession. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics in this city operation is around Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand. The police administration has appealed to the public to actively assist in this mission by immediately reporting any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or via Dial-112.
