KKM athletics get underway on June 322 relay races in six age groups and cash prizes of Rs 7,95,900

KHASDAR Krida Mahotsav’s athletics competitions will be hosted at the Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University’s synthetic track in Ravi Nagar from June 3-6, informs Convenor and former MLA Sandip Joshi. The events will be organised at the Nagpur city level this year. Morning session will be from 5.00 to 8.30 am and the evening session from 5.00 to 8.30 pm. The competition will be formally inaugurated on June 3 at 9.00 am and the prize distribution will be held on June 6 at 6.30 pm. A total of 116 individual sports including 22 relay races of different age groups and different distances will be the main attraction of the competition. A total prize money of Rs 7,95,900 will be awarded to the players. Competitions will be held in six age groups. There will be a total of 116 different sports for men and women in the open group including the Under-12, 14, 16 and 18 age groups and masters men and women above 35 years of age group and four relay races in each age group. Out of the four relay races, the middle relay race will be held separately for the boys and girls groups. While two mixed relay races of 4x100m and 4x400m will be held for the 14, 16, 18 and open groups. For the Under-12 age group, there will be 4x50m and 4x100m mixed relay races. Since last year, 5000 metres walk for the men’s group, 3000m walk for the women, 400m hurdles for the Under-18 age group, open age group boys and girls have been included. This year’s contestants in each age group will receive the same prize money as every year, even though the competition is held for Nagpur city athletes only.
 
PRIZE MONEY In this year’s sports festival, a total prize money of Rs 7,95,900 will be awarded to the players. Apart from this, trophies will be awarded to the team champion, runner-up and third place winners of each age group separately. While trophies will also be awarded to the teams that come first, second and third for the overall team championship. Apart from this, trophies will be awarded to the contestants who are declared the Best Runner, Best Thrower and Best Jumper in the competition. Individual sports First Place - Rs 2000 and gold medal Second Place - Rs 1700 and silver medal 3rd Place - Rs 1500 and bronze medal Relay races First Place - Rs 3000 and gold medal Second Place - Rs 2500 and silver medal Third Place - Rs 2000 and bronze medal For looking into technical aspect of the event, as many as 110 technical referees and sports assistants have been appointed. Various races are being organised throughout the day. Like last year, this year too, there will be a photo finish camera and LED screen for the results. Records of athletics sports events will be kept. The records have been updated based on the performance in the first year of the KKM. The athletes who broke the records will be recorded and their meet records will be kept. Convenor Joshi and secretary of organising committee Dr Piyush Ambulkar will be assisted by Ashfaq Sheikh, Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Dr Vibekanand Singh, Ramchandra Wani, Archana Kottewar and Ganesh Wani.
