A severe summer surge has taken full grip with the mercury skyrocketing across multiple regions. According to the daily update, the state witnessed completely dry weather across all divisions. Extreme heatwave conditions wreaked havoc in several districts, with Satna, Mandla, Damoh, and Nowgong in Chhatarpur bearing the brunt of severe thermal discomfort. Khajuraho emerged as the hottest spot in the entire state, recording a blistering maximum temperature of 47.4°C alongside experiencing an intensely warm night, while the hill station of Pachmarhi offered the lowest minimum temperature at a relatively cooler 19.6°C. The day temperatures have climbed significantly above normal, surging by 1.6°C to 3.0°C in several districts across the Bhopal, Rewa, Jabalpur, Shahdol, and Sagar divisions. Night temperatures offered no comfort either, staying 1.7°C to 2.8°C above the seasonal average in Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Shahdol divisions.

Among the cities recording the highest night-time temperatures, Seoni led the charts at 31.2°C, followed closely by Raisen at 30.4°C and Kannod in Dewas at 30.3°C. Meanwhile, isolated weather phenomena like a dust storm hit Khargone, adding to the localised weather volatility. Behind this intense weather pattern is a complex web of synoptic systems mapped by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While the Northern Limit of Monsoon continues its steady advance across the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal with favourable conditions for further progress over the next three to four days, central India remains under the firm grip of dry, hot winds. A Western Disturbance is currently running as a trough in the westerlies north of Latitude 28°N. Simultaneously, multiple low-level cyclonic circulations are persisting over Punjab and East Uttar Pradesh, coupled with an east-west trough stretching from Northwest Uttar Pradesh all the way to Manipur, and another tracking from East Uttar Pradesh down to south coastal Odisha. Despite these hovering systems, the immediate outlook for Madhya Pradesh indicates no large change in the prevailing weather for five days.
