On Friday, a single bench of Jabalpur High Court comprising Justice A K Singh heard the petition seeking a second post-mortem for Twisha. Samarth’s side did not directly oppose the second post-mortem, but argued that doing so would cast doubt on the doctors at Bhopal AIIMS and their report. On behalf of the State Government, Advocate General Prashant Saini clearly stated that the Government has no objection to a second post-mortem. During the hearing, all parties agreed to conduct the post-mortem at AIIMS, Delhi, but the court acknowledged that the condition of the body was not conducive to transporting it to Delhi. Subsequently, the court decided that the second post-mortem would be conducted at AIIMS, Bhopal, but a medical board would be constituted by the Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.

The court directed AIIMS, Delhi, to form a committee of expert doctors. During the hearing, Samarth Singh also requested that the deceased’s body be handed over to her husband in accordance with Hindu customs. However, the court clarified that the priority was the second post-mortem process and that the issue of handing over the body would not be considered. Later, a crucial hearing was held before a single bench of Justice

A K Singh in the infamous Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal. The first hearing was on the anticipatory bail plea of the deceased’s husband, Samarth Singh. Advocate Mrigendra Singh, representing Samarth, told the court that his client was innocent and willing to surrender, and therefore, he should be allowed to have his regular bail application heard on the same day. The Government and the deceased’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, strongly opposed this, arguing that the accused was already absconding and should not be granted any relief. Following the court’s firm stance, Samarth Singh withdrew the anticipatory bail plea. Following this, a petition seeking the cancellation of Giribala Singh’s anticipatory bail was also heard. Following the application filed by the Government and Navnidhi Sharma, the court issued notice to Giribala Singh as per the rules and scheduled the next hearing for Monday.
