In a major development, the State Government has officially consented to a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the case, adhering to the persistent demands of the family. The Home Department of the Madhya Pradesh Government has issued a formal notification regarding the transfer of the investigation of the death of Twisha Sharma, which occurred on May 12, in Bagmugaliya Extension, Katara Hills, Bhopal, to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In a related development, the High Court rejected the anticipatory bail plea of the primary accused, Samarth Singh, who had been absconding for ten days. Senior Advocate Tushar Mehta presented the arguments via video conferencing. Considering the severity of the case, the court approved the request for a new post-mortem. Subsequently, Samarth Singh reached the Jabalpur court to surrender, but his application was not accepted there; he was instructed to complete the legal process in Bhopal.

When Samarth Singh claimed he lacked funds to return to Bhopal, the court remarked that he could walk. The police have taken him into custody at the Jabalpur court, and he will be brought to Bhopal following the necessary paperwork. Samarth Singh remained in the court premises with his legal counsel for several hours during the surrender process. Meanwhile, the position of Giribala Singh as the Chairperson of the Consumer Forum Commission is under threat, and action to remove her may be initiated soon. Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar stated that despite three notices being issued to Giribala Singh, she has not co-operated with the ongoing investigation.

The Police Commissioner added that every piece of evidence is being meticulously examined, with call records, mobile details, and CCTV footage incorporated into the probe. Statements of individuals identified in the camera footage have also been recorded, and investigation teams are working continuously. Sanjay Kumar emphasised that the police have been conducting an impartial investigation from the outset, with no negligence permitted. He noted that the case was registered within two days of the incident and affirmed that Bhopal Police will continue their operations until the investigation is officially handed over to another agency.
