Sanjeevani Nagar police have solved the blind murder mystery of a youth within 24 hours and arrested the accused. The accused has been identified as Ayush Yadav (25), son of Rajendra Yadav, a resident of Sagar Colony under Dhanvantari Nagar Outpost in Sanjeevani Nagar. It may be noted that, on May 22, 2026, a young man Surendra Kumar (28) was found dead inside a room located behind Arogyam Hospital. Learning about the incident, police reached the spot where Arvind Pradhan (36), a resident of Shyamnagar Parsawada, informed that his younger brother Surendra alias ‘Chingam’ Pradhan had been living alone for the past year in a room behind Arogyam Hospital near Raju Parshad’s office.

On Thursday morning around 10 am, when he went to deliver food to his brother, he found the room door open and Surendra lying unconscious on the floor. His left wrist was slit, a knife was lying nearby and a white scarf was tied around his neck. On checking, he found that Surendra had already died. Senior police officials, including SP, Sampat Upadhyay, CSP Gorakhpur MD Nagotia, forensic experts and fingerprint teams inspected the spot. After preliminary investigation and post-mortem examination, doctors confirmed that Surendra died due to strangulation. Additional SP Zone-2 Pallavi Shukla, while addressing a press conference, on Saturday, informed that during the investigation, police gathered information about a dispute involving the deceased near Lalbaba Temple and examined CCTV footage. Based on the footage, police questioned Ganesh Sharma, a local resident, who informed that on the night of May 21, Surendra arrived at the temple area on a Jupiter scooter and was loudly talking and abusing someone over the phone. After being asked not to use abusive language in front of families, he left towards

Om Dairy. Soon after, shouting and sounds of a scuffle were heard nearby. Ganesh Sharma and others rushed to the spot and found Surendra lying intoxicated on the ground beside his scooter. A young man present there identified himself as Ayush Yadav and claimed to be Surendra’s friend. Ayush told them Surendra had consumed excessive alcohol and fallen from the vehicle. When they suggested calling Dial 112, Ayush refused and insisted they take Surendra to his nearby room instead. Police registered a case under Section 103(1) of BNS against Ayush Yadav. During interrogation, Ayush Yadav confessed to the murder. He told police that Surendra frequently assaulted and harassed him. Taking advantage of Surendra’s heavily intoxicated condition, he strangled him with a scarf and later slit his wrist with a knife to frame the case of suicide.
