Madan Mahal police registered a case of investment fraud after a man accused three relatives of duping him of nearly Rs 20 lakh in the name of a car rental business.
According to police, complainant Anoop Girdoniya (46), a resident of Shivhari Apartment near Ashish Hospital in Wright Town, lodged a written complaint that Amit Tiwari, Ayush Tiwari and Tanmay Tiwari, all residents of Gotegaon (Shridham) in Narsinghpur district, approached him with a proposal to invest in their car rental business. Due to close family relations, he trusted them and transferred around Rs 20 lakh between January and May 2025 through online bank transactions and cash payments.
The complainant alleged that the accused initially assured him of good returns, but later failed to make regular payments as promised. After repeated pressure, they reportedly returned around Rs 6 lakh and also handed over a cheque worth Rs 5 lakh. Amit Tiwari assured him that the remaining amount would be paid soon, but no further payment was received.
Police said the complainant further alleged that from February 1, 2026, all three accused switched off their mobile phones and went absconding. Their family members later lodged missing person reports, but their whereabouts remain unknown.
During the inquiry, it was also revealed that the accused used to obtain luxury vehicles from owners by promising attractive rental income and then illegally mortgage those vehicles to other individuals. The complainant further claimed that Ayush Tiwari is also facing a similar fraud case registered at Kamla Nehru Nagar Police Station.
Following the preliminary investigation, police registered a case against Amit Tiwari, Ayush Tiwari and Tanmay Tiwari under Sections 318(4) and 3(5) of BNS for cheating the complainant by luring him with promises of high investment returns and failing to return the principal amount and profits while further investigation is underway.
