On the third day of the Swachh Survekshan 2025-26, the central evaluation team shifted its focus from the old city to various residential areas in New Bhopal. The teams directly engaged with citizens to verify the ground-level reality of municipal sanitation services, aiming to determine whether there is a discrepancy between administrative claims and actual field conditions. During the inspections, officials formed groups of approximately 25 residents in each locality to document their firsthand experiences. The inquiry focused specifically on whether the Bhopal Municipal Corporation’s garbage collection vehicles arrive at their homes daily and on schedule.

Additionally, the team members conducted detailed inspections of waste transfer stations, drainage systems, and the general cleanliness of the residential colonies. Over the past three days, the central evaluation team has assessed the cleanliness of several historic and commercial areas, including the famous Chowk Bazaar in Old Bhopal. The team has completed its intensive drive in the wards under zones 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 17. The delegation is expected to visit high-density and sensitive areas under zones 7, 8, 10, and 12 this coming Sunday.

On Saturday, the teams conducted thorough inspections in colonies located behind People’s Mall in Zone 17, as well as areas in Bairagarh (Zone 1), wards 22 and 8 (Zone 5), and several sectors in Zone 10. During these visits, the team photographed the cleanliness conditions at Bairagarh Main Market, Itwara Bazaar, and Navbahar Vegetable Market. The officials also verified the presence and maintenance of dustbins outside shops and homes while gathering information from shopkeepers regarding waste disposal practices. The nationwide cleanliness survey, which commenced last Thursday, will continue until May 30. Given the sensitivity of the evaluation and the active monitoring by the central team, Municipal Commissioner Sanskruti Jain has issued a strict administrative order. All leaves for officials and employees of the health and sanitation department have been cancelled with immediate effect, and they have been directed to remain stationed in the field until the conclusion of the survey.
