A dispute over the Kali Bari temple in Khamaria has taken a serious turn. The members of the Bang Samaj (Bengali community) approached the Superintendent of Police on Saturday and filed complaint against a woman. Members of the community alleged that the woman, along with some associates, has been trying to illegally occupy the well-known Kali Bari temple. They said she first attempted to forcibly occupy a room inside the Complaint filed against woman allegedly occupying Kali Bari temple, Khamaria temple premises.

When members of the temple committee objected, the woman levelled serious allegations against the priest and committee members. She also allegedly tried to defame the temple management through social media. Members of the Kali Mandir and Durga Puja Committee gathered at the City Bengali Club before proceeding to the SP office with a written complaint. Kali Bari Khamaria Secretary Arnab Das Gupta briefed the SP on the entire matter. He said the allegations against the temple were false and unacceptable.

He added that this was not just an attack on the temple but a deliberate conspiracy to tarnish the image of the entire Bengali community. He said attempts were being made to defame the community by portraying it as non-Hindu. Community representatives also complained that despite filing a complaint at Khamaria police station earlier, no concrete action had been taken. This forced them to approach the SP directly. The SP took the matter seriously and directed the Khamaria police station In-charge to investigate the case and take appropriate action.
