A late-night drone flight inside a protected forest has landed two youths in legal trouble in Nagpur Rural area. Police have registered separate cases against the duo after an investigation revealed that they allegedly entered wildlife habitats at night, filmed videos using a drone without permission, and disturbed wild animals in the Morghas and Chorbahuli forest areas.
According to police, a video uploaded on the Instagram account “@lifeinkamptee” was verified and found to have been shot in the Morghas and Chorbahuli forest areas.
During the inquiry, police identified the accused as Khalfan Jain Istiyaq Patel (18) and Mohammed Aman Danish Ayaz Ahmed (22), both residents of Kamptee.
Investigators found that on May 12,
the two accused allegedly entered the
forest at night in a vehicle and used powerful flashlight beams to track the movement of wild animals.
Police said, they attempted to chase and capture the animals and also drove at high speed through the forest which disturbed wildlife and posed a threat to their natural habitat.
Based on these findings,
Deolapar Police registered a case against both accused under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Section 9 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
In a separate incident, police found that on May 15, the accused allegedly carried out drone-based video shooting in the Chorbahuli forest area without obtaining permission from the government or the concerned authorities. The forest is known to be a habitat for wild animals, including tigers, bears and leopards.
As the drone operation was conducted without prior approval and violated government regulations, another case has been registered against both accused under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Further investigation is underway.
