West Zone has busted an alleged Punjab-to-Raipur heroin supply syndicate and arrested three accused, including the alleged kingpin of the network. The operation, conducted by Kabir Nagar police under guidance of DCP (West Zone) Sandeep Patel, Additional DCP Rahul Dev Sharma and Assistant Commissioner of Police Azad Chowk Ishu Agrawal (IPS), led to seizure of more than 56 grams of heroin and exposure of what police described as a fully operational supply chain bringing narcotics from Punjab into Raipur. Police said the first breakthrough came on May 19 after Rehina Kaur and Karandeep Singh Maan were intercepted near BSUP Colony, Jarway, while allegedly searching for customers to sell heroin. Search of the duo led to seizure of 9.19 grams heroin, an Activa scooter and mobile phones.

An offence was registered at Kabir Nagar police station under Crime No. 101/26 of the NDPS Act. During sustained interrogation and technical surveillance, investigators identified Punjab-based accused Charanjeet Singh alias Sonu of Gurdaspur district as the alleged principal supplier. Police said Sonu was already absconding in Crime No. 250/25 involving seizure of around 400 grams heroin of commercial quantity. He had earlier been arrested in Amanaka police station limits with 150 grams heroin but allegedly resumed trafficking after securing bail. Police arrested Sonu near Sondongri Talab on May 23 and recovered another 47 grams heroin along with a mobile phone. The probe dismantled the entire supply structure involving retail distributors, interstate suppliers and associated traffickers. Financial investigation was underway to identify and attach assets generated through narcotics trafficking.
