South East Central Railway (SECR), Raipur Division, on Saturday organised the 19th phase of Rozgar Mela in which 257 newly recruited candidates received appointment letters for various Central Government departments and institutions.
The programme was organised at Pt Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium near Science College ground in Raipur as part of the nationwide employment initiative of the Centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed nearly 51,000 newly recruited candidates across the country through video conferencing and extended his greetings to the appointees.
He urged the youth to actively contribute towards nation building and strengthening the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
According to officials, a total of 803 candidates were selected under the Raipur segment, out of which 257 candidates physically attended the programme and received appointment letters.
The beneficiaries included 200 candidates from the Railway Department, 34 from the Postal Department, seven from the Health Ministry, five from Hindustan Copper Limited and 11 from Bank of Baroda.
Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uikey attended the event as chief guest. Rajya Sabha MP Laxmi Verma,
Divisional Railway Manager Dayanand, Additional DRM Bajrang Agrawal and Senior Divisional Personnel Officer Rahul Garg were also present along with senior departmental officials.
Officials said the Rozgar Mela initiative is aimed at accelerating recruitment across government sectors while providing employment opportunities to the youth.
