WITH 44 teams finalised to showcase their supremacy, the excitement of ‘Surya Cup Cricket Silver League - Season-2’ has finally begun through a special player’s auction programme held in Raipur. Inspired by the popular format of Indian Premier League the championship officially kicked off the preparations with a grand players’ auction and trophy unveiling ceremony. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai’s son Topendra Deo Sai was the chief guest and unveiled the trophies. The league scheduled to commence from June 15 will mesmerise cricket fans with thrilling cricket action along with attractive cash prizes for the participating teams being the special attraction. Encouraging the players and youth present at the auction programme, Topendra Deo Sai said that he always had a deep interest in cricket since childhood and still enjoys playing the game whenever he gets time.

 

He appealed youth of the state to channel their energy in a positive direction and actively participate in sports of their choice. Organiser of the League Rizwan Surya said that this season is planned on a much bigger scale than before. A maximum of 44 teams from across the state will participate while around 750 players will get the opportunity to showcase their cricketing talent. The tourney will continue for almost two months and cricket lovers will witness six exciting matches every day throughout the league.

 

He further informed that there was tremendous enthusiasm among franchise owners and players regarding the auction process for which extensive arrangements was already made in advance. The winning team of the championship will receive a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh, while the runner-up team will be awarded Rs 2.75 lakh. Team owners from Raipur and different parts of the state were present and witnessed the auction and trophy unveiling programme. Special guests included Vijay Yadav of Balaji Buildcon, Shamim Khan of V K Machinery, Pritam Jain of Navkar Jewellers, Akash Madhavani, Vinay Govindani, Jitendra Singh Thakur, Sheetal Singh Thakur and Durga Das Lalwani. All guests congratulated the organisers and extended their best wishes for the success of the league.
