State-of-the-art Godam Logistics Park inaugurated at Nimji on Amravati Road
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Nagpur and Gadchiroli are emerging as major ‘growth magnets’ and the logistics sector must become stronger and more advanced as Maharashtra expands its industrial portfolio. Fadnavis said this while inaugurating the Godam Logistics Park at Nimji Gondkhairi on Amravati Road along with Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Among those present on the dais were MLAs - Parinay Fuke and Ashish Deshmukh; industrialist and social worker Shivkishan Agrawal, Independent Director of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited Kedarnath Gupta, mentor Jayprakash Gupta, and directors of Godam Logistics Private Limited Mahavir Jain, Krishnakumar Gupta, Rajan Agrawal, Nikhil Gupta, Bhavik Jain, Mayank Gupta and Tanishq Agrawal.
Expressing happiness over the inauguration of the modern “state-of-the-art” logistics park, Fadnavis noted that logistics cost remains a major challenge and stressed that India must become globally competitive to be an integral part of the global supply chain.
He said that under the ‘Gati Shakti’ initiative, emphasis is being laid on completing projects at a faster pace, and the state has formulated a new logistics policy in which Nagpur will play a significant role. He added that Nagpur is also emerging as a major transportation and connectivity hub like Mumbai, as entrepreneurs are making large-scale investments under the Mega Logistics Policy.
Expressing his views, Gadkari said that one of the most important features of the project is that parking facilities have been provided within the premises, ensuring that vehicles will not be parked on highways.
He noted that the Amravati Highway is being expanded into a six-lane road and suggested that the logistics park on Amravati Road should include solar energy projects, electric vehicle charging points, and fast charging stations.
Emphasizing environmental sustainability, Gadkari advocated the use of electric trucks. He stated that India’s logistics cost, which earlier stood at 16 percent, has now reduced to nearly 6 percent, bringing it closer to China’s logistics costs. He also mentioned that the dry port at Sindhi would enable goods to be exported internationally with ease.
Earlier, Mahavir Jain, Director of Godam Logistics Private Limited, delivered the introductory address.
He said that Maharashtra’s Ease of Doing Business initiatives, Integrated Logistics Policy, and Single Window Scheme have greatly benefited Godam Logistics. He added that the company aims to contribute towards making Nagpur a national logistics hub.
He informed that the project is being completed in record time and is one of the largest private-sector logistics projects in
Central India.
A warehouse spread across 1.90 lakh square feet is being developed, while the overall project spans 25 lakh square feet across 105 acres.
