Dry weather conditions continued across Chhattisgarh on Monday, with several districts experiencing intense heat wave conditions. According to the Meteorological Centre, Raipur, the highest maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 46.5°C in Rajnandgaon, while Ambikapur recorded
the lowest minimum temperature at 24.7°C.
Raipur recorded a maximum temperature of 45.1°C, which was 2.6 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 30°C. Durg recorded 45.2°C, Bilaspur 45.1°C and Mana Airport 45.7°C. Jagdalpur registered 40.8°C, while Pendra Road and Ambikapur recorded 42.4°C and 42.8°C respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that no significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next three days.
However, temperatures may gradually fall by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius afterwards. Heat wave conditions are likely to continue in parts of Central Chhattisgarh and isolated pockets of South Chhattisgarh during this period. The weather department has also forecast very light to light rainfall at isolated places in the state. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph are also likely at isolated locations. For Raipur city, the forecast for May 26 predicts mainly clear skies with maximum and minimum temperatures likely to remain around 45°C and 30°C respectively.
