NAGPUR’S Ayush Ramteke won
the third Blitzkrieg Rapid Chess
Tournament organised by
Blitzkrieg Chess Club at VNIT,
winning all nine games and
scoring 9 out of 9 points.
The ninth and decisive round
of the competition was very
close. Playing on the top board,
Ayush Ramteke defeated Mohik
Bhagchandani to secure the
gold medal. Suhan Deshpande
became the runner-up with
eight points. He defeated Sahil
Ghorghat in the final round.
Kushagra Paliwal defeated Ved
Neeraj Bhair to secure the third
position with 8 points.
Mohik ended fourth with 7.5
points while Sai Sharma defeated Shaurya Ambane to secure
the fifth position with 7.5
points. The prize distribution
ceremony was held in the auditorium of VNIT.
On this occasion, Dean of the Student
Welfare Department Dr Umesh
Deshpande was present as the
chief guest. Associate Dean of
the Alumni Department Dr
Sunil Bhat and Faculty Incharge
of Blitzkrieg Chess Club Dr
Ajinkya Bakshi were present.
In his introductory address,
Dr Bakshi said the club provides a competitive platform to
students and that there was a
huge response from other districts of Vidarbha. Secretary ofNagpur Chess AssociationBhushan Shriwas and WorkingPresident SS Soman alsoattended the programme. Topfive finishers were felicitatedwith attractive trophies andcertificates.
