Devotees throng city’s ghats to take holy dip on Ganga Dussehra, Padmini Ekadashi

Devotees in Jabalpur took a ritualistic holy dip marking the astrological confluence of Ganga Dussehra and Padmini Ekadashi on Tuesday.
The rare and highly auspicious of Ganga Dusshra and Padmini Ekadashi significantly heightened the religious fervor in the region, drawing thousands of devotees to the banks of holy Maa Narmada for a holy dip and charity.
According to astrologers, an Ekadashi falling within the Shukla Paksha of the holy Adhik Maas is revered as Padmini Ekadashi or Kamala Ekadashi. Worshipping Lord Vishnu during this unique period multiplies the spiritual merits manifold.
Believers told that strictly observing this fast dispels misfortune, poverty and life obstacles, ushering in peace and prosperity.
The devotees gathered at the banks at Gwarighat,
Tilwaraghat and other ghats
in the district to offer deep daan. In the evening, they participated in Mahaarti performed at both the major ghats in the city.
The experts also noted that natural significance of ‘Nautapa’, suggesting that
the severer the heat during these 9 days, the better
and more robust the
upcoming monsoon will be, a factor vital for farming communities.
Coinciding with Ganga Dussehra, widespread public awareness campaigns for water conservation and rejuvenation were organized across various villages under Panagar block including Kushner, Pipariya and Bharda.
The devotees Carried out Ganga Kalash Yatra nd Jal Srot Poojan and the tubewells, ponds and local water bodies were ritually worshipped followed by a ceremonial Jalabhishek at Shiva temple. At some places Jal Samvaad were also organised to educate locals on preserving depleting water resources.
