HARD-HITTING all-rounder
Vidarbha’s Bharti Fulmali has
been selected in the Indian
women’s team for the T20 World
Cup which is scheduled to be held
in England and Wales from June
12.
In the recent past, Fulmali has
been a regular member of the
Indian T20 set-up.
Last month, 31-year-old
Bharti, who played for Vidarbha
Under-19 when she was just 13,
represented Indian women team
which toured South Africa.
In the five-match series, Bharti
had scored a 30-ball 42 in the 5th
encounter.
Born in Amravati, Bharti,
daughter of Shrikrushna and
Jyoti, is a right-handed batter
and right-arm medium-fast
bowler who has emerged as a
powerful finisher in domestic
and franchise cricket.
In the IndianWomen’s Premier
League, the middle-order bat
Bharti plays for Gujarat Giants
Women team.
In Vidarbha Premier League
last year, she captained Neco
Master Blaster.
The Indian team will be led by
Harmanpreet Kaur with Smriti
Mandhana being her deputy.
Mandhana, ShafaliVerma andJemimah Rodrigues are expected to form the top three while
the inclusion of Bharti, who did
an impressive job lower down
the order in theWomen’s Premier
League, will complete the batting line-up along with other finishers such as Richa Ghosh and
Deepti Sharma.
Indian women will begin their
campaign against Pakistan on
June 14 at Birmingham.
