Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Jabalpur City unit staged a massive protest at Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University on Friday, against widespread administrative and academic irregularities.
During the demonstration, the ABVP office-bearers submitted a detailed memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor (Kulguru) demanding the immediate resignation of the University Registrar and a strict, impartial probe into multiple grievances.
The ABVP alleged that candidates applying for Polytechnic Diploma contractual recruitment process were charged unfairly high fees compared to other competitive exams. They have demanded a public disclosure of the fee-fixing process and a refund of the excess money collected. Serious concerns were raised regarding the quality of on-campus construction, highlighting cracks inside the student hostels and the poor state of the university canteen. The union pointed out that despite crores of rupees being spent, the poor quality strongly indicates corruption and negligence. The protesting members collectively raised their voice demanding an immediate response and effective measures from the university administration to resolve these pressing student issues. The ABVP warned of a large-scale agitation if the university administration fails to take concrete action soon to protect the academic integrity of the institution and the interests of the students. The protest saw huge participation from university students, faculty representatives and key ABVP leaders including Aishwarya Sonkar, Shobhit Mishra, Divyank Pachouri, Praful Tiwari, Bhaskar Patel, Satyam Patel, Ashutosh Patel and Suryansh Thakur, among several other student activists.
