Additional Commissioner of Police (Addl CP) Vasant Pardeshi has been relieved from the charge of the Crime Branch and assigned responsibility of the North Region of city police. Addl CP Rajendra Dabhade, who was handling the North Region, has now taken charge of the Crime Branch. Meanwhile, Addl CP Vinita Sahu has been assigned the South Division post, which had fallen vacant after the transfer of Addl CP Shivajirao Rathod. Sources said there was already speculation about Addl CP Sahu being given the South Region charge, but the sudden removal of Addl CP Pardeshi from the Crime Branch surprised many officials. Meanwhile, DCP Aditya Mirkhelkar has been appointed as in-charge of Traffic Branch of the city police.
