Chhattisgarh is likely to witness a gradual reduction in heatwave conditions from May 30 as weather activity is expected to increase across the State, according to the Meteorological Centre, Raipur. The weather office reported that light to moderate rainfall occurred at isolated places in the State during the past 24 hours. Rajnandgaon recorded the highest maximum temperature at 46.0 degrees Celsius, while Ambikapur recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 21.8 degrees Celsius. Significant rainfall was reported from Sukma, Jagdalpur, Tongpal, Darbha, Tokapal, Nangur, Kondagaon, Konta, Bhanpuri, Lohandiguda and Ambikapur. In Raipur, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42.8 degrees Celsius, which was 0.7 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 29.7 degrees Celsius, 1.6 degrees above normal.
 
Durg recorded a maximum temperature of 44.5 degrees Celsius, while Bilaspur registered 42.0 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Centre, Raipur, a trough extending from a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan to interior Odisha through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh is influencing weather conditions over the region. As a result, light to moderate rain is likely at isolated places across the State. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail and gusty winds reaching 50 to 60 kmph are also likely at isolated locations. Meteorologists have indicated that thunderstorm activity, lightning and rainfall are expected to increase across Chhattisgarh over the next three days. For Raipur city, the forecast for May 30 suggests a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of rain, thunderstorms or dust storms. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain around 43 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius respectively.
