With 40 MoUs signed, State confident of creating over 1 lakh jobs in next 10 yrs

Slowly and surely, industrial base with thrust on manufacturing is taking shape in Nagpur region as Maharashtra Government has signed 40 memorandum of understanding (MoU) with focus on creation of new jobs in the region. Over the next 5-10 years, Government is confident of creating around 1 lakh plus new job openings, as industries with investment in renewable energy, steel manufacturing and aircraft maintenance are about to take shape.
Since 2021, Maharashtra Government signed nearly 170 memorandum of understanding (MoU), of which 38 new units are eyeing to set up their bases in Nagpur area alone. Big names in the industry like Surjagad Ispal Pvt Ltd, M/s Lloyds Metals and Energy Ltd, Renew Power, OFB Tech Pvt Ltd, Waaree Energy are in different stages of converting their MoU in reality. Sharing the data with Abhay Kolarkar under RTI, Maharashtra Industries Development Corporation (MIDC) shed light on current status of agreement signed over last few years with industries.
As to Waaree Energy-Sangam Solar, the company is looking forward to investment of around Rs 3000 crore and MIDC has allotted them land in Butibori Industries Estate.
The company is going to set up base for manufacturing renewable energy components, including solar panels and other associates modules. The company is a big name in renewable energy sector and is among many other small and medium players who have zeroed in on Nagpur for establishing their new units as India is scaling up its manufacturing capacity in the sector. The company has said when the unit is fully functional, total employment would reach upto 10,000.
Renaissance Solar and Electronic Material too is setting base in Nagpur with projected outlay of Rs 5000 crore and employment for upto 1300 persons.
e company is currently scouting for suitable land and MIDC officials have given some prime locations that are under evaluation. Another major investment is that of Lloyd Metal and Energy with projection of Rs 16,580 crore to create job potential of 3500 and they are also on lookout for suitable land parcel.
One major unit that has started construction is Pernod Ricard India Pvt Ltd that is setting base in Butibori area. It is putting in Rs 1785 crore of investment that would create employment for 800 persons. Similarly, for Million Steel Pvt Ltd, the land has been allotted and outlay by company is of Rs 250 crore with potential for 350 jobs.
A cursory look at the data shared by MIDC reveals that from 38 industries that have confirmed investment in Nagpur region, the project is at primary stages. In maximum cases, the land allotment process is under review as in Nagpur, a new region might need to be identified for providing base to industries as Butibori and Additional Butibori are nearly full.
Among the investment, the
proposal of Surjagad Ispat
Pvt Ltd is quite ambitious as
they promised to employ 8000
persons. Its investment is to
tune of Rs 10,000 crore, with
an aim of establishing a smelting unit manufacturing steel
products. MIDC has already
completed land allotment to
the company.
The project of Mallika Steel
and Power Ltd has also received
necessary land parcel. They are
going to employ 900 persons.
Another industry with similar
specification is proposal of
SMW Ispat Pvt. Ltd that has
committed investment of Rs
1582 crore with potential to
create 1500 jobs and it has
already commenced production in Wardha district.
