In a tragic incident, a woman was killed and another was critically injured when a speeding Metro bus rammed into their scooter on Kachhpura over-bridge under the jurisdiction of Sanjeevani Nagar police station, on Friday afternoon. According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred between 2 pm and 2:30 pm when two women were travelling on a scooter across the Kachhpura Overbridge. Meanwhile, a speeding metro bus coming from behind rammed into the scooter due to negligent driving by the bus driver. The collision was so severe that the scooter lost balance and both women were thrown onto the road. One of the women came directly under the rear wheel of the bus. Due to the high speed of the vehicle, the driver could not stop immediately and the woman was dragged for some distance, leading to her death on the spot. The horrifying scene left onlookers shocked.

 

Panic and chaos spread across the overbridge immediately after the accident. Local residents and passersby stopped the bus and informed the police. Some people rushed to help the injured woman, while others tried to manage the traffic congestion caused by the incident. Long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the overbridge for some time. After receiving information, Sanjeevani Nagar police reached the spot and shifted the seriously injured woman to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College Hospital in an ambulance. Doctors said her condition remains critical and treatment is ongoing. The body of the deceased woman was sent to the medical college mortuary for post-mortem examination. Following the accident, the bus driver abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot. Police have seized the metro bus and registered a case against the accused driver. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest him. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to determine the exact sequence of events.
