A parking dispute escalated into violence on Friday night when local transport operators allegedly assaulted an advocate outside his residence in the Mangalwara area of the State capital. The physical altercation, occurring in close proximity to the local police station, triggered widespread panic in the neighbourhood. According to the complaint filed by the victim, advocate Krishnamohan Gupta, the conflict began when transport businessmen Shailendra Pradhan and Mukesh Pradhan parked their commercial vehicles haphazardly, completely blocking his driveway. When Gupta requested them to move
were joined by Santosh Mishra, Akash, and around half a dozen associates armed with wooden sticks and clubs. The mob launched a collective attack on Gupta,
beating him brutally with kicks, punches, and sticks. Fearing for his life, the severely injured advocate ran directly across the street into the Mangalwara Police Station to seek refuge. The bold nature of this public assault, committed right outside a law enforcement facility, has raised serious questions regarding public safety and police vigilance in the area. Mangalwara Police Station House Officer Ajay Soni confirmed that immediate legal action is being taken based on the victim’s formal complaint. The police have registered a case against Shailendra Pradhan, Mukesh Pradhan, Santosh Mishra, Akash, and their unidentified accomplices under relevant sections of the BNS for rioting, extortion, physical assault, and criminal intimidation.
