Six people were killed and more than 30 persons, including women and children, were injured after a tractor-trolley overturned near Tiwani village of Sarai police station under Karanpathar police station area of Pushparajgarh tehsil area on the border of Anuppur and Umaria districts on Friday evening. The driver was reportedly driving at a high speed and could not turn the vehicle in the culvert and the trolley overturned. Superintendent of Police Vikrant Murab said that the villagers of Ginjri and Padmania villages of the district had come to Tiwani forest of Bijaura Gram Panchayat to perform puja. The trolley overturned on the bridge while returning in the evening.
 
After the accident, villagers in the trolley fell down about 10 feet. The trolley was reportedly carrying more than 40 people. On receiving the information, teams of Pali police station, administration and Health Department of Umaria district reached the spot. The injured were shifted to Pali Hospital with the help of 108 Ambulance.
 
All the injured have been referred to Shahdol Medical Hospital after first-aid. According to information, two of the injured died on the spot, while four others died during treatment at the hospital. The deceased were identified as Ghanshyam Singh(45), Bhupat Singh(50), resident of Padhmania, Sahbal Baiga, son of Galli Ram, (55), and Bir Singh(60), a resident of Gijri. Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Collector Harshal Pancholi also visited Shahdol Medical College after the accident and met the injured patients. He asked about the health of the injured and consoled the relatives. The relatives of the deceased citizens will be provided with financial assistance of Rs 4-4 lakh from the Chief Minister’s voluntary grant and Rs 4-4 lakh under the Sambal Yojana.
