In a firm step towards keeping the city clean, the Jabalpur Municipal Corporation (JMC) fined a local food establishment Rs 10,000 on the spot for dumping waste on a public road. The action was taken under a city-wide cleanliness drive launched by the civic body. During a routine inspection at the busy Malviya Chowk area under Zone No. 13, senior officials of JMC’s health department found that the operator of Arjun Poha stall had carelessly thrown used leaf plates and bowls directly onto the road after closing his shop. Taking immediate cognizance of the violation, the Health Department team imposed a spot fine of Rs 10,000 on the establishment.
 
Additional Commissioner Devendra Singh Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner Sambhav Ayachi, Health Officer Ankita Barman and Assistant Nodal Officer Abhinav Mishra confirmed the action, stating that no compromise on cleanliness would be tolerated. The inspection team included Assistant Health Officer Arjun Yadav, Chief Sanitation Inspector Agaste Verma, Sanitation Inspector Abhishek Biswari and Ward Supervisor Anil Mohit. The Municipal Corporation has sent a clear message to all establishments that littering in public spaces will invite strict legal and financial consequences. Officials said the civic body will continue to take strict action against violation of cleanliness norm and release heavy fine from guilty people. They said the civic body is carrying out special cleanliness drive in the city and ensuring that every part of the city looks spick and span.
