EVES from Mumbai Suburbs, Nanded, Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai Suburbs Nashik, Palghar and Ratnagiri stormed into the quarter-finals of the ongoing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Cup State-Level Kabaddi tournament under way at Sevanand Vidyalaya in Koradi. In the league matches played on Sunday, Pune eves tharshed Jalna comfortably with the scores reading 22-12, 33-17 with Sanika Kale and Mansi Shende performing well for the winners. Kolhapur too had no difficulty in thrashing Satara 22-5, 39-13 to move up in the competition. It was heartbreak for hosts Nagpur as they lost their league round matches.
 
Thane thrashed Nagpur Gramin 21-12, 42-22 while Mumbai Suburbs got the better of Nagpur City 21-10, 40-26. Siddhi Chafle and Gauri Jadhav showed exceptional skills to help Ratnagiri beat Nanded 18-10, 26-20 in their league round battle. Palghar registered a convincing 25-23, 68-32 win over Parbhani. In men’s section, Thane edged past Nanded by two points. Thane took a 23-15 lead in the first half but Nanded bounced back in the second session and gave tough fight to Thane scoring 42 points against 44. In another match, Nashik defeated Sangli (34-37, 74-70) by four points. Kolhapur defeated Beed 30-12, 43-26 to stay in contention for quarter-finals.
