The Vidarbha Industries Association (VIA) Taxation & Corporate Law Forum, jointly with Vidarbha Tax Practitioners Association (VTPA), recently organised a full-day seminar on ‘New Income Tax Act, 2025” at VIA Hall, Udyog Bhawan, Civil Lines, Nagpur. On the occasion, chief guest Dr Sibichen K Mathew, IRS, Director General of Income Tax at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur, said that the Income Tax Act, 2025 marks a historic shift toward a taxpayer-centric ecosystem.

 

Dr Mathew highlighted the introduction of a uniform ‘Tax Year’ to replace the confusing Assessment Year/Previous Year cycle and noted the significant consolidation of TDS provisions into Section 393. CA Naresh Jakhotia, VP – VIA; CA Ashok Chandak, Chairman – VIA Taxation & Corporate Law Forum; CA Mahendra Jain, President VTPA; CA R Bupathy, CA Vimal Punmiya, CA (Dr) Shardul Dilip Shah and others were also present.
