Two workers lost their lives after a DDS tank suddenly collapsed at an ethanol plant in the early hours of Tuesday in Narsinghpur district. The incident occurred around 1.30 am at Mahakaushal Sugar Mill premises in Bachai. According to initial information, a DDS tank installed at the plant suddenly fell, trapping two workers who were working beneath it. Both victims died on the spot. They have been identified as Jagdish Yadav (32), a resident of Khapa Shedh and Pawan Thakur (30), a resident of Silwani. The impact of the accident was severe, with one of the victims sustaining fatal dismemberment. Panic gripped the factory premises following the incident. The injured workers were immediately rushed to the district hospital in the factory’s ambulance, where doctors declared them dead.
 
Eyewitness Kamlesh, cousin of deceased Jagdish, informed that the machine had been facing technical issues for the past week and repair work was ongoing. At the time of the accident, maintenance work was still in progress when the tank suddenly collapsed. He added that Jagdish had joined the job only three months ago and was the sole breadwinner of his family. On Tuesday morning, police reached the spot and conducted Panchnama before sending the bodies for post-mortem. According to police, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation suggests possible technical failure or negligence. Police have initiated a detailed probe into the matter. The incident has raised serious concerns over adherence to industrial safety standards. Questions are being raised about whether adequate precautions were taken despite known technical faults and if proper safety protocols were followed during the repair work.
