A recently rescued two-year-old tiger has been found dead in the buffer zone of Panna Tiger Reserve on Tuesday. With this incident, the number of tiger deaths in Madhya Pradesh has risen to 28 since January 7 this year. The Field Director of Panna Tiger Reserve, Brijesh Shrivastava informed that the carcass was found in the Amanganj buffer area. The tiger had been rescued earlier from Tara village and was fitted with a radio collar for continuous monitoring. He added that the carcass was found intact and no immediate signs of foul play were observed. The exact cause of death will be determined after a detailed site inspection.
 
Earlier, learning about the incident, senior forest officers along with team of veterinarians reached the spot and started investigation. Veterinarians conducted post-mortem of the carcass and preserved viscera to ascertain reason behind the death of big cat. The carcass was cremated as per the standard operating procedure of National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA). According to NTCA, a total of 28 tiger deaths have been recorded in the State since the beginning of the year. The first case was reported on January 7 in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.
