A shocking case of sexual assault involving a five-year-old girl, the daughter of a government official, has surfaced in the city. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, police have arrested a 75-year-old lawyer under charges of rape and the POCSO Act. Following a court hearing, the accused has been sent to jail. The incident occurred on May 3. According to the police, the accused advocate resides with his daughter and granddaughter. The two families were well-acquainted, due to which the victim frequently visited the lawyer’s house to play with his granddaughter. On Sunday, while the victim was at his residence, the accused allegedly lured her into a room on a pretext and committed the crime.

 

The police stated that the minor reached home immediately after escaping from the elderly man’s clutches. Later that night, the girl complained to her mother about pain in her private parts. Upon further questioning, the child narrated the entire ordeal. The mother immediately took her to a doctor, where a medical examination confirmed the assault. Following this, the police recorded the child’s statement and initiated legal proceedings. The police took the accused into custody shortly after the case was registered. While he initially tried to mislead the investigators, he reportedly confessed to the crime after rigorous interrogation. The accused was produced in court on Tuesday, which subsequently ordered him to be sent to judicial custody.
