A major fire broke out in a scrap warehouse in the Malikhedi area on Wednesday afternoon, sparking panic among local residents. The blaze spread with such intensity that the tin-shed structure was reduced to ashes within a short period. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. According to initial reports, the fire erupted suddenly in the warehouse, which is situated in close proximity to a residential pocket. Alarmed residents rushed out of their homes and attempted to douse the flames before authorities arrived. Upon receiving the alert, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) dispatched three fire tenders to the spot. After a sustained operation, firefighters successfully brought the blaze under control, preventing the fire from spreading into adjacent houses.

While the timely intervention of the fire brigade helped avert a potential disaster in the densely populated locality, the warehouse structure was completely destroyed. All the scrap material stored inside the facility was gutted in the fire. Eyewitnesses noted that stubble burning had recently taken place in the agricultural fields located near the warehouse. BMC fire officials suspect that flying sparks from these fields may have triggered the fire, though a final confirmation is pending. The police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire and to check for any possible negligence.
