Yash Shukla scored two goals, one in each half, as Nagpur improved their performance by a few notch to register their second win in the ongoing Maharashtra State (WIFA) Inter-District Championship at Kolhapur. After starting their campaign with a 2-goal win over Thane, the Stanley Peter-led side thrashed Wardha by four goals to nil to record their second victory from Group B. Lanky Shukla, who had scored in Nagpur’s match against Thane on Tuesday, gave his side the much-needed lead in the 26th minute of play. Controlling the ball and surging ahead, Shukla fired in a powerful right footer from top of the rectangle into the net to make it 1-0 for Nagpur.

Nagpur had to wait for another goal for more than 40 minutes as Wardha boys managed well to hold their fort for the first 40 minutes (first half) and then to most part of the second session. Nagpur succeeded in doubling the lead on the hour mark when Shukla, who was lurking on the edge of the box, made no mistake in dispatching the ball into the net to make it 2-0. Mustajab Ashraf then made it 3-0 scoring in the 68th off a beautiful header after receiving a pass from Vicky Bhaisare, who was included in the side in place of Gaurav Sayre at the last moment. Bhuvnesh Shendre then grabbed the chance in the 80th minute scoring from a rebound after Fredrick Peter’s powerful shot ricocheted from Wardha goalkeeper Rutik Atkar’s hands as Nagpur wrapped up a comfortable win.
