Pune Mayor’s office received an email threatening bomb attacks in Nagpur and Pune
Security agencies were placed on high alert after the office of the Pune Mayor received an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack threat via email at around 10.30 am on Tuesday. The threatening email reportedly warned of bomb attacks in both Pune and Nagpur, prompting immediate action by law enforcement agencies.
According to officials, a detailed investigation into the threat email is currently underway. Acting swiftly on the alert, Nagpur Police intensified security measures across sensitive locations, including the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS)
headquarters in the Mahal area. As per the information, the email claimed IED attack at Pune Mayor’s office and some sensitive locations in Nagpur, including RSS Bhavan.
The sender also mentioned specific date and time of the attack, which will take place at different locations.
Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) personnel, intelligence unit, cyber crime officials, and police personnel, along with a dog squad, launched a co-ordinated investigation to assess the credibility of the email. The agencies conducted a thorough search of the RSS headquarters and surrounding premises.
However, no suspicious objects or explosive materials were found during the operation. As a precautionary measure, security has been strengthened at the locations named in the email.
Along with this, police teams are in alert mode and conducting surveillance of all sensitive locations in the city.
Similarly, the cyber crime investigators have commenced analysing the technical details of the email to track its origin and identify the individual or group responsible in this act.
Whereas, officials claimed that nothing suspicious has emerged in the investigation, so far, but as a precautionary measure, extensive security arrangements have been put in place.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and assured that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure public safety.
