President Droupadi Murmu will grace 36th Convocation Ceremony of Rani Durgavati University (RDU) scheduled on June 21 in the city. President Murmu has consented to attend the event as the chief guest. The convocation will be presided over by Governor of Madhya Pradesh and Chancellor of the University Mangubhai Patel. Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Minister of Higher Education, Inder Singh Parmar will also attend as special guests. Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajesh Kumar Verma officially confirmed that formal approval has been received from Rashtrapati Bhavan, allocating a one-hour duration for President’s address and participation. Expressing his gratitude on behalf of the university and the region, Professor Verma termed this development a landmark and golden day for Jabalpur and the institution. This event marks return of a sitting Head of State to the university campus after a span of two decades. The 21st Convocation of Rani Durgavati University was previously addressed by former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the year 2006.
 
A high-level administrative meeting was convened by Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajesh Kumar Verma, Registrar Dr Ravishankar Sonwal and Chief Coordinator Professor S S Sandhu, along with Professor Rakesh Bajpai and Professor Surendra Singh. The committee reviewed progress of arrangements across multiple departments. The university administration has proposed conferment of multiple degrees and academic distinctions during the ceremony. As 240 gold medals will be awarded to 141 students, 182 Ph.D., 03 D.Litt., 01 D.Sc. and 01 Honorary Doctorate. In light of the high-security protocols and extensive operational requirements necessitated by the presidential visit, the administration has amended the registration deadlines. Final date for online application and registration for gold medalists and Ph.D. scholars has been advanced. The deadline is now fixed for June 12 until 5 pm replacing previously scheduled date of June 15. The university has also made attendance mandatory for all registered students at scheduled rehearsal sessions. The rehearsals will take place on June 18 and 19, from 11 am to 5 pm.
