High failure rate mars MPBSE Class 12 second exam results; over 57,000 candidates flunk

A staggering 57,591 regular students have failed to clear the Higher Secondary Certificate (10+2) Second Examination for 2026, pointing to a dismal outcome for nearly 40% of the total candidates who took the test. According to the complete Statewide result statistics released by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE), Bhopal, the extensive list of unsuccessful students comprises 33,632 boys and 23,959 girls, casting a shadow over the board’s supplementary evaluation drive.
Out of the 142,467 regular students who appeared for this crucial second opportunity exam, only 84,871 candidates managed to qualify, dragging the overall state pass percentage down to a modest 59.57%. The gender-wise break-up of the final figures further reveals that boys faced a tougher time clearing the hurdle; their pass percentage stopped at 57.36% with 45,253 passing, compared to the girls who registered a relatively better pass percentage of 62.31% with 39,618 successful candidates.
The board’s official data shows that a total of 142,468 students originally registered for the examinations, including 78,890 boys and 63,578 girls.
Turnout remained almost absolute across the state, with only a single male candidate recorded absent. Ahead of the final compilation, the board withheld the results of three candidates, two boys and one girl, and completely cancelled the exams of two male students, bringing the final declared result tally to 142,462 students.
Among those who managed to cross the passing line, the majority found place in the second division. A total of 47,626 students cleared the exam in the Second Division, which includes 27,359 boys and 20,267 girls. On the other hand, the premium First Division bracket was achieved by 37,005 students. In this top-tier category, girls comfortably outpaced the boys by securing 19,300 first-division ranks against the 17,705 managed by male students. The Third Division accounted for a minor pocket of just 240 students nationwide, consisting of 189 boys and 51 girls.
