In a tragic incident, three friends travelling in an auto-rickshaw died on Thursday night in Rewa, after a speeding truck collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw. The impact was so severe that the auto-rickshaw was completely damaged and the three friends died on-the-spot. The accident took place in front of Bori factory under the jurisdiction of Govindgarh police station area.
It is reported that the three youths had gone to visit their aunt’s house and were returning when the accident occurred. The truck was reportedly going at a speed of around 90 km/h at the time; high speed and negligence are considered the primary causes of the accident.
Hearing the noise of the crash, locals rushed to help and police and an ambulance were informed however, by the time the youths were taken out, they had already succumbed to their injuries. On receiving the news of tragedy, the grieving families arrived at the scene. The three victims had been travelling together in the same auto-rickshaw. They have been identified as Harishankar Chaturvedi (a resident of Bahuri Bandh), Ashish Upadhyay (a resident of Bahuri Bandh) and Shailendra Tiwari (a resident of Dahiyabhatko). It is reported that Harishankar had taken his two friends to his aunt’s house and the accident occurred while they were returning.
Police arrived at the scene immediately after being informed; with the help of locals, they took out the bodies, prepared panchnama and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Police seized the truck but the driver had fled the scene. A pall of gloom descended upon the villages of Bahuri Bandh and Dahiyabhatko following the tragedy.
As news of the incident reached the villagers on Friday morning, a wave of grief swept through the entire area and locals mourned the untimely demise of three youths.
