The district administration demolished roads, drains, and other unauthorized structures in an illegal colony located in village Dalpatpur under the Gorakhpur subdivision, on Saturday. The action was taken on the instructions of Collector Raghvendra Singh to take strict action against illegal colonies.
The action was taken against the colonizer, Guruji Construction, after it failed to comply with a prior notice that had given it an opportunity to voluntarily remove the illegal constructions.
Following non-compliance within the stipulated time, the operation was carried out under the orders of SDM, Gorakhpur, Anurag Singh.
The team included the Tehsildar Gorakhpur, Executive Magistrate, Additional Tehsildar Gorakhpur, Bhedaghat police station in-charge, municipal corporation officials, and revenue staff. The demolition was executed using JCB machines and other resources.
SDM Gorakhpur, clarified that strict action will continue against all illegal colonies being developed in the subdivision. Roads, drains, encroachments on public land, and other unauthorized structures will be removed and restored to their original condition as per rules.
It was also stated that legal proceedings will be initiated against colonizers involved in illegal colony development. Where necessary, FIRs will be registered, restrictions will be imposed on colony development activities, and punitive action
will be taken under applicable government regulations. SDM Gorakhpur has appealed to citizens to verify the legal status of any plot or colony, including colonizer licenses and development permissions, before investing. He warned that investment in illegal colonies may lead to serious legal and practical complications in the future.
