Superintendent of Police Sampat Upadhyay chaired a meeting of gazetted officers and station house officers at the Police Control Room to review security arrangements for the upcoming Muharram festival, on Saturday. The meeting was attended by Additional SP (Crime) Jitendra Singh, Additional SP Zone-2 Pallavi Shukla, Additional SP (Rural) Suryakant Sharma and Additional SP Akhilesh Tiwari. Emphasizing the importance of maintaining law and order, SP directed officers to promptly resolve issues raised during peace committee meetings at the police station level in coordination with the concerned departments.

He instructed officials to conduct foot patrols along procession routes and ensure proper sanitation, lighting and removal of low-hanging wires. SP Upadhyay also asked officers to keep a close watch on locations with a history of disputes and to establish fixed security points at sensitive areas. He directed City SPs and SHOs to conduct joint inspections with SDMs and tehsildars and maintain regular interaction with members of all communities to gather intelligence and strengthen communal harmony. SP warned that anti-social elements may attempt to disrupt peace during the festival and instructed police to identify such individuals and take preventive action based on their criminal records. He also ordered that riot-control equipment, tear gas, torches, video cameras and public address systems be kept ready, stressing that police action must remain impartial with the primary objective of ensuring peace and security.
