Ramtek Correspondent :
FARMERS from Patgowari and Amdi villages have strongly opposed the proposed land acquisition process being undertaken for the establishment of an industrial area by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). The affected farmers staged a protest march and submitted a memorandum to the acting Subdivisional officer and Ramtek Tehsildar
Ramesh Kolpe.
The memorandum was submitted by landowners affected by the proposed MIDC acquisition in Patgowari and Amdi villages. The farmers expressed their strong objection to the physical land measurement scheduled for June 23, 2026, as part of the ongoing land acquisition process.
The protest follows notices issued under Sections 32(2) and 32(3) of the Maharashtra Industrial Development Act, 1961, as well as a notification published in the Maharashtra Government Gazette on December 18, 2023.
The farmers also referred to a circular issued by the Deputy Superintendent of Land Records, regarding the proposed land measurement exercise.
According to the memorandum, the affected farmers had earlier attended personal hearings organised by the authorities under Section 32(3) of the MIDC Act and submitted written representations opposing the acquisition. Farmers submitted their objections on June 9, 2025.
The farmers stated that they had hoped the Government would consider their objections and permanently halt the acquisition proceedings. However, the recent publication of the land measurement schedule on the government e-Chavdi portal has caused serious concern among the affected families.
In their memorandum, the farmers emphasised that agriculture is their sole source of livelihood and that they have no alternative means of employment.
They urged the authorities to consider this as a major factor while reviewing the acquisition proposal.
